We are raising Rhode Island Reds, with a few Silver Lace Wyandotte and a Belefelder Rooster.
Our first flock turned 2 years old this March. Our second flock we hatched from our first flock, and our rooster Mr. Roo turned a year old this March.
Meet our roosters.
CiCi, he came with our first flock. He is the most talkative bird I have ever heard. He is a good rooster. His feathers have a neat shimmer to them. He will let you pet him some. Our son is his person, he will let him carry him around.
Mr. Roo came from another farm as a chick, he is two weeks older than the original flock. He sometimes growls. He is also a good rooster, our second flock are his. They are darker in color, bigger in size and so pretty. He does like to give you the stink eye lol. He also doesn’t like to be touched but he won’t charge at you.
Otto. Otto is a Belefelder Rooster. We got him with our meat birds last year. He was a freebie. He is also a good rooster. His feathers are so pretty, he is colorful. Belefelder’s are a German breed.
Last spring we started hatching baby chicks for our local hardware store. This year we started hatching from the RIR hen and Belefelder rooster, the pullets are fluffy, and have a chipmunk stripe down their back.
