Meet Our Pigs

We are raising the Tamworth breed. This breed is an Irish breed. They are known as the bacon breed. Reddish/brown skin tone. They have a sweet and onery demeanor. They are great diggers. They use their snouts to dig, clear, and till the ground. They grow fast and are ready for processing between 8-10 months.

We started raising the Tamworth in 2021 for pork, for our family. We did that twice, with a pair of brothers we purchased from a farm in Jay, OK.

In our third round of purchasing piglets, we got our first gilt. We named her Miss Piggy. She was also purchased by the farm in Jay, OK. She is now 4 years old. In May of 2023, she became a sow. We used AI to get her pregnant, and she gave birth to 14 piglets; 12 survived.

Her daughter Natasha had been farrowed in the spring of 2024 by AI. She had farrrowed 12, with one loss of life. One piglet we named Bacon Seed (our boar), was injured at a few days old and was fed inside our home after surgery. He is not that baby anymore. He will be 2 years old in July.

The Piglets were farrowed on May 6th, 2024. 11 were farrowed, and 10 survived.

Natasha farrowed a second litter in July of 2025 before passing that August. She had 10 piglets, who are now 7 months old. The picture is of the litter born in 2025.

Meet Pepper!

We went to Kentucky to get her. We struggled to find a gilt that wasn’t related to Miss Piggy, Bacon Seed, so we found a farm in eastern Kentucky that was not a part of the same family line. Pepper will be paired with Bacon Seed to create little piglets once she is of age.

She has a big personality, is vocal, and is a sweetheart. She has a darker red tone vs our other pigs.
